GitRead Docs

Features

Pages and groups

A well-structured page tree makes docs easy to navigate. GitRead gives you three tools for that: pages, subpages and groups.

Create a page

Click New page below the page list. A new page is added at the end of the list. To create a subpage, right-click an existing page and choose the option to add a subpage.

Create a group

Click New group and give it a name. Groups appear as headings in the navigation of your public site.

Drag and drop

Reorder everything by dragging:

  • Drop a page above or below another page to place it next to it.
  • Drop a page onto another page to make it a subpage.
  • Drop a page onto a group to move it into that group.
  • Drag groups to change their order.

Subpages stay in the group of their parent page.

Page settings

Right-click a page and choose Settings to decide which elements are visible on that page, such as the table of contents or the Ask AI button. See Page elements.

Delete pages and groups

  • Deleting a group keeps its pages.
  • Deleting a page removes it permanently. Its subpages are not deleted. They move up one level. Link cards that point to the deleted page show as broken.

Limits

  • Pages can be nested up to ten levels deep.
  • The number of pages per project depends on your plan. When you reach the limit, GitRead tells you and no new page is created. See Plans and limits.
  • A new group needs room for at least one more page in your plan.
